This is the second part of a new ongoing series of photo and video inspiration posts featuring real kiwi weddings beautifully captured by our talented local photographers.

Kathryn and Darren had a Waiheke wedding on the last day of January, and what a day it was. I had to step in at the last moment when a friend of mine, who was scheduled to take the pictures, was taken ill. It’s a bit nerve wracking when you’ve not met the bride and groom before, know nothing about the day and still have to deliver, but it all clicked into place and the day went without a hitch. Darren and Kathryn are lovely people, and were totally comfortable to let me go about what I do in my own way – they trusted me from the start which was very flattering.

The day began at Kathryn’s parents place in Howick for hair and make up, and then we all got on a ferry bound for Waiheke for the ceremony at the Mudbrick. The weather was mixed but it didn’t get in the way, and in fact towards the end of the day the sun came out and gave us some of the most beautiful, creamy Waiheke light I’ve ever seen.
