We thought it would be a lovely touch at our Waiheke Wedding to have Robbies red London bus transporting guests to and from the ferry, especially as my husband and his family are from the UK.
The bus itself was as amazing as the photographs suggested, very vintage, and just typical of the old London buses – we are hoping for some great photos! However, if we were to do it all over again, we probably would have booked a normal passenger bus from one of the other companies on Waiheke instead.
I had previously arranged everything with Robbie’s via email before the big day. I didn’t mind them calling on the morning of to confirm everything but they did create a lot of undue stress by speculating that as it was right before easter, the ferries would be so busy that our guests may not make the ferry unless they had pre-booked tickets and that the ferry would probably be running late because it would be so busy. Neither of these predictions proved to be correct at all, however even if it were the case, which is probably not the most professional thing to first decide to mention the morning of the wedding, when nothing can be done about it.
We had arranged for the bus to return at the end of the evening to transport guests to the last ferry back to Auckland. We were both a bit annoyed that Robbie’s showed up about 45minutes before we asked him to at the end of the evening, thus making our guests think that they had to get moving or they would miss the ferry. The result being my husband and I never got to do our official planned exit from the reception and our guests ended up waiting at the ferry terminal for half an hour for the ferry instead of enjoying the remainder of the evening at our venue.
All in all, the bus is lovely, but in retrospect for the amont we paid I would have preferred to hire a coach for guests and a couple of lovely bridal cars.transport-
