For both of us it was our second marriage and having lived together for fifteen years we were not wanting a traditional wedding. Sean met us in a cafe many months out from the wedding and we were so pleased after the initial meeting. We set a date and pencilled in a time, but felt relaxed when Shaun told us he only took one booking on a day so we could change this when we had confirmed details.

In December when we had confirmed timings and bookings we let Shaun know about the change to the ceremony time.

It was at this point it all went wrong. Shaun advised us he had taken another booking out of town to cover for another celebrant. When I contacted him to try to resolve the issue he denied making the statement about only taking one booking a day (despite both my fiance and I both being certain of this as it was one of the reasons we chose him), and although we were his first client he advised us we would need to change our time or find another celebrant to accommodate his new booking. He never contacted us before taking the other booking to ensure our plans would fit with his intentions. He never admitted any fault and was unapologetic in regards to our situation. He expected us to make all the concessions despite being his initial clients. He was very keen for us to take another celebrant that he could arrange for us - it would seem more logical and ethical for this other celebrant to have fulfilled the other booking.

The experience left us very angry, disappointed and let down at a time when excitement and good will should have been abundant.

When Sean first arranged to meet us in a coffee shop, we both felt nervous and thought it would be an awkward experience with someone we didn’t know.  We had organised to meet with several other celebrants, but after our first meeting with Sean - much like other couples - we felt so at ease that we immediately decided he was the man for us!  He made us both laugh, seemed to work out our quirks quickly and used these to get the best from us in the lead up to our wedding.  He seemed genuinely interested in our story, and our wedding, and helped us to think about how we really wanted our ceremony to be and then how to make it like that!  We have recommended him to everyone since, and had numerous guests tell us that our ceremony was the loveliest they have been to.  I hope this review goes some small way to say - thank you so much Sean.  You were the most wonderful celebrant we could ever have wished for!
