  We were really pleased with how Sean was on the day of our wedding. He was relaxed,funny and very friendly and chatted to all our guests before the ceremony. During the ceremony he made everything run smoothly and was professional in his appearance. We got lots of comments from guests saying how nice Sean was.   We wanted a fun relaxed wedding as it was the second time for both of us. Sean was great. We had a couple of meetings beforehand and he was very flexible and helpful. On the evening of our wedding he was at the venue early greeting all of our guests and making everyone laugh. During the ceremony he involved all of our guests and we had so many positive comments about our wedding afterwards. People thought he was fantastic and we would recommend his services to anyone. He even managed to find a photographer for us at the last moment. Thanks so much Sean.

  We loved having Sean officiate our wedding.  He was professional, amusing and calmed our nerves when we needed it.  He was open to our requests.  We got out of him exactly what we were after because he listened to what we wanted and what we didn’t want.  We had a heap of our guests say how wonderful he was and how wonderful our ceremony was.  It definitely wasn’t boring.  We would recommend him to anyone!

  Sean gave us exactly what we asked of him, a relaxed, enjoyable ceremony that we will treasure forever. Many of our guests have commented to us on how much they enjoyed Sean and his sense of humour and how surprised they were that they actually felt like an active part of our ceremony.
  Sean made everything very easy for us too and he has clearly perfected his ways so everything flows seamlessly. His postioning of the bridal party works well for the photographer while allowing the bride and groom to really feel that they are communicating with each other and not just reading their vows from a piece of paper.
  I would thoroughly recommend Sean to anyone who wants a ceremony who will put them and their guests at ease.

  Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Sean from michael and myself for helping us have such a brilliant wedding day .

  We found sean here on wedding wise and realised he married someone else we know ,so after speaking to them we decided Sean was the man for us!

  He made everything so easy for us from meeting at our home to walking us through the entire ceremony , he put together a ceremony that suited what we had envisioned and involved everyone in the ceremony which I also loved, we had a number of guest comment on it too.

  I cant reccommend Sean enough, thankyou for making our day one to remember !!

  Sean Has been the most fantastic celebrant. When we met Sean 9 months ago, we felt completely at ease and we knew we had made a great decision by meeting him and having him as our celebrant. Leading up to and on the wedding day we could not have asked for better from Sean. He made us feel so comfortable, we felt we could ask him any question and chat to him if we became anxious about the ceremony at any time. We were both so nervous on the day. I (bride) was very nervous and shy. Sean made me look like I had been up the Aisle a million times, He made me laugh while I was standing up there, which was such a great thing as I was petrified and laughing made me feel relaxed.

  Sean was our celebrant for our wedding at French Farm. We chose him because of his relaxed nature and his very easy sense of humour. He was an excellent choice for us. Sean was very professional and even went out of town to visit our wedding venue a couple of weeks before the ceremony date, to set the scene in his mind of creativity.   Sean was an absolute joy to work with. From opening his home to my husband and I for planning meetings to traveling to us to make sure our rehearsal went smoothly - he was absolutely wonderful. We had many hiccups along the way when trying to plan a wedding in Christchurch. He was very accommodating to the many venue changes that dealing with and adjusting to the different style needed at our final, confirmed location. He helped my husband and I craft a ceremony that was meaningful and very “us” and he delivered it beautifully. He also has a very kind, calming spirit and you can tell he really loves what he does. His extra surprises really made me feel more at ease on our wedding day. I would highly recommend Sean to couples in search of an amazing officiant!

  My wife and I were recommended Sean, and we were not disappointed.  Our wedding was very short notice, and we were worried that we would not be able to get someone.  But Sean set our minds at piece by responing almost instantly to our enquiries.  And he was the first on hand to put our worries to rest, and answer any and all of the questions we had.

  He is very professional, and takes so much in hand before, and on the day. We met with him prior to the wedding date, and I found that his attention to detail was above and beyond what I was expecting. 

  Sean is also happy to adapt the service.  My family and friends are in the UK, so Sean was more than happy to metion them, so that they were all part of our wedding day.

  It was the personal touches that made the experience one to remember.  Sean not only conducts the service, but helpes with the nerves, and makes sure the whole day is of the highest standard.  We cannot recommend enough.

  We decided to go with Sean after seeing the reviews here then meeting him in person and finding him to be extremely personable and knowledgeable.  We walked out of our first meeting feeling much more confident and relaxed about the whole getting married process, which was especially important given that we were trying arrange our NZ wedding while we were living in Australia.

  Sean kept in touch with us leading up to the day to make sure everything was in order and was great on the day of the wedding.  His words were well chosen and spoken and his confidence and knowledge helped to put us at ease during the ceremony.

  Sean met us in a cafe many months out from the wedding and we were so pleased after the initial meeting. We set a date and pencilled in a time, but felt relaxed when Shaun told us he only took one booking on a day so we could change this when we had confirmed details.

  In December when we had confirmed timings and bookings we let Shaun know about the change to the ceremony time.

  It was at this point it all went wrong. Shaun advised us he had taken another booking out of town to cover for another celebrant. When I contacted him to try to resolve the issue he denied making the statement about only taking one booking a day (despite both my fiance and I both being certain of this as it was one of the reasons we chose him), and although we were his first client he advised us we would need to change our time or find another celebrant to accommodate his new booking. He never contacted us before taking the other booking to ensure our plans would fit with his intentions. He never admitted any fault and was unapologetic in regards to our situation. He expected us to make all the concessions despite being his initial clients. He was very keen for us to take another celebrant that he could arrange for us - it would seem more logical and ethical for this other celebrant to have fulfilled the other booking.

  The experience left us very angry, disappointed and let down at a time when excitement and good will should have been abundant.

  When Sean first arranged to meet us in a coffee shop, we both felt nervous and thought it would be an awkward experience with someone we didn’t know.  We had organised to meet with several other celebrants, but after our first meeting with Sean - much like other couples - we felt so at ease that we immediately decided he was the man for us!  He made us both laugh, seemed to work out our quirks quickly and used these to get the best from us in the lead up to our wedding.  He seemed genuinely interested in our story, and our wedding, and helped us to think about how we really wanted our ceremony to be and then how to make it like that!  We have recommended him to everyone since, and had numerous guests tell us that our ceremony was the loveliest they have been to.  I hope this review goes some small way to say - thank you so much Sean.  You were the most wonderful celebrant we could ever have wished for!

  Sean, role was exceptionally fantastic, considering the surprise factor. We decided to have a surprise wedding, and Sean played the part of guest lol. Then we asked him to say a few words which turned out to be our ceremony. Everyone was in shock, because it was our farewell party. So, Sean was very professional, and added a few extra laughs to our ceremony, which we found great. I would definitely recommend Sean to any couple who is looking for that little bit extra special.

  We had a lovely wedding thanks to Sean.  My husband Josh and I decided we would like a celebrant so we did a search on the yellow pages and wrote down three names, the first person we rung was Sean, as soon as I spoke to Sean on the phone I knew we had to meet, just got the feeling that he was going to be perfect.  The following day we went and met Sean, what a lovely guy, with his Irish charm and wit we were convinced then and there, we were not making another phone call.  We loved how Sean was so easy to deal with and how adaptable to what we wanted.  The day of our wedding was perfect, we had our two children with us, rather than groomsmen and bridesmaids, our daughter lost her shoe so he was off running to find her shoe, couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant.  Thank you so much for making our day so special, so many people commented on what a lovely man he was.  Thanks Josh, Chrissie, Tom and Isabelle

  Susan and i were to be married on November the 5th 2011. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances our wedding has had to be postponed. We met with Sean at his local coffee shop for our initial meeting. From the moment we met him we knew he was the right man to conduct our service.He instantly put us at ease with his charm and humor.He was saddened by our news, and has been very understanding.

  We are very, very pleased that we chose Sean as our celebrant.  We live in Sydney and so we had to plan everything remotely and Sean was able to work with this, sending us drafts of the ceremony by email.  We met Sean a few days before the wedding and he was able to make us feel much more comfortable about the whole wedding ceremony as he explained how it would flow.

  On the day of the ceremony Sean was brilliant, with a good mix of light heartedness and solemnity.  His opening act of getting the 50 attendees to greet at least 1 person they didn’t know really worked and probably got everyone speaking to everyone else.  We had many friends and family telling us what a great job Sean had done and how he had helped to make the ceremony very special and memorable, which he most definitely did.

  We would without hesitation recommend Sean to any couple planning to get married.

  I was really keen to have a celebrant that we felt comfortable with, but being from the UK we didn’t really know anyone. Fortunately I encountered Sean when he was a finalist in a humorous speaking contest. I was pleased to discover he was not only an accomplished (and very funny) speaker but also a celebrant.
  He guided us through all the paperwork and gave great advice and support as we wrote our vows and structured the ceremony.
  On the day he warmed the guests up and set the scene beautifully. It was a wonderfull day, full of joy and happiness (something that we need plenty of here in Christchurch) and Sean played a huge part.

  Sean Joyce was more than a pleasure and we were honored to have him marry us. He is Irish, and has an Irish humor.  Our guests adored him, he was a big hit. He gave us time before the wedding, that we really appreciate. On the day he was telling joke after joke, I heard, entertaining the guests. Just a warm and sincere celebrant who gave us a feeling of care and confidence in him, which was priceless.   I found Sean on this site and contacted him because I liked his reviews. I liked the comment that he had a ‘gentle sense of humour’ and a desire to support the wedding couple in having their day however they pleased. He sounded very enthusiastic & organised and just what we were looking for.

  James and I had a good feeling about Sean and were pleased to find he was everything his reviews promised. At our first meeting we felt very comfortable and at ease with him. We both really appreciated his acceptance & encouragement for our day to be everything WE wanted it to be, and we really liked his kind hearted nature, easy going attitude & sense of humour! After that meeting James and I were left feeling really good about our wedding day. Sean made everything seem simple and easy, as he has all the information at hand.

  On the big day I was able to let go and go with the flow as Sean was confidently in control. The fact that our guests felt included was made evident by their laughter and tears, and later many of them commented on how lovely Sean was. Also many guests commented on how the ceremony felt very genuine and fitting for us as a couple. There is a wonderful photo that captured myself, Sean and James laughing whole heartedly with our guests (after I announced that true to form I had written really long vows and wasn’t finished yet!).

  James and I have remained in a bubble of happiness for days after, and both continue to agree that our wedding could not have been better if we tried.

  Sean’s fantastic personality, spontaneity, and wit made our boat wedding ceremony the fun and exciting event we had always planned.

  Sean was just as excited about our unique wedding as we were, he participated in rehearsals and listened to our ideas. Sean even dressed up for the occasion wearing top hat and tails along with the groomsmen.

  I contacted Sean as My husband to be and I had decided we no longer wanted a registry wedding (as we had both been married before) I explained to Sean that it was to be a bit of a surprise for friends and relatives to arrive and be able to witness our vows etc, Sean took this on board and we wanted to write our own vows and to keep the ceremony short and non secular, he helped with giving us ideas and direction, the ceremony was perfect, Sean fitted in like family, he was well versed and articulate, it really could not have been any better, Having Sean presiding over our wedding was both an honour and a joy, he was amazing! I picked him out of the phone book as he was a local man and once I had spoken to him on the phone i realised he was indeed our guy, I would have no hesitation in recommending his services.
